Ask five-hundred people what would be one thing they could not live without and answers like oxygen, shelter, and water probably will not be among the top replies. However, things like cell phones and the internet probably would. Almost everything in today's world can be done online. People can shop, watch their favorite shows, and even hold a relationship. One might ask how they can be exposed to all these different things. A key factor to spreading around the news that something new has surfaced is communication.
There are many sites all over the internet that serve just this pupose. There are the common ones like MySpace, MyYearbook, and Facebook which provide communication as well as thousands of extra forms of entertainment such as game, applications, invitations to join groups, and more. A young man named Pete Merrill wanted a site that was more focused on talking to people than participating in everything else. The tinkering teenager created a brand new site called "Thirdie," and it seems to be a hit. Merrill put over 1,000 hours into the site and his hobby has made him proud.
"Thirdie" is a site mainly focused on blogging, chatting, and keeping up with friends, but also has a few games associated with it. Users have said they like that the site's main focus is socializing and discussing any topic from discrimintion to the football game. The site is also used to reconnect with old and current friends while making new ones. Despite the three to five hours Pete spends on the site everyday keeping things running smoothly, he continues to keep up his grades and make time for friends and video games. He has also opened up a prospective future for himself by having acquired the knowledge of making and maintaining his own website.
Everyone has their own special talent whether it be gardening, speaking, or tinkering. Pete Merrill used his talent to create "Thirdie", a site designed to bring conversing back into the social sites on the internet.
